Today I fight for the person who saw me grow up and was a father to me. He is currently in Venezuela, fighting a very tough battle against a locally advanced adenocarcinoma of the Ampulla of Vater. A few months ago, we were on the verge of surgery, but a lack of ICU beds at the time halted everything, forcing him to endure six additional, grueling rounds of chemotherapy just to hold on. Today, a new window of hope has opened for him to undergo the Whipple procedure between November and January. However, the hospital requires us to have 100% of the funds secured—covering the surgery, medical supplies, and ICU care—before they will schedule an operating room date. Without these funds ready, we cannot reserve his spot. Any contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to reaching this goal and saving his life.
