Kovaze FAQ

Getting Started

What is Kovaze?
Kovaze is an online reality game website where users can play multiplayer reality games, compete in social strategy competitions, and interact with other players in a live community environment. Inspired by reality TV formats like Big Brother, Survivor, The Challenge, The Amazing Race, and other social competition games, Kovaze lets players join interactive browser-based games where alliances, voting, challenges, eliminations, and player decisions determine the outcome.
What kind of games can I play on Kovaze?
Kovaze offers a variety of game types, including fast games like Frenzy and Hysteria that are inspired by Big Brother, as well as longer formats like Outcasted inspired by a Survivor style experience. Quicker games tend to last under an hour, while our longer games may last a few days up to a week! More information can be found below regarding the different game types and formats.
Is Kovaze free to play?
Yes, Kovaze is free to play. You can join games and participate in various activities without any cost. Players have the option to purchase Koinz for cosmetic items, but these can always be earned through gameplay and participation!
Can I play Kovaze on my mobile device?
Yes, the Kovaze website and games can be played on all devices. There currently isn't a mobile app, but the website is fully responsive and can be accessed through your mobile browser.
How old do I have to be to play Kovaze?
To play Kovaze, you must be at least 16 years old. This age requirement helps ensure a safe and appropriate environment for all players. Players aged 16 and 17 are required to have parental consent to play, and are not allowed to share external contact information with other players (except Discord), social media, or images of themselves.

Gameplay

How do the games work?
Our games are 100% automatic, meaning that once a game starts, it runs on its own without a host! The game will have an in-game timer which represents how long you have to vote or play the challenge for that round. Once the timer runs out, the game will automatically process the results and update the players in the game chat.
How can I join a game?
Games can be found in the "Games" tab in your navigation bar. From there, you can see a list of all the games you can join by pressing the enrol button. You will see a list of games you are currently enrolled in - once enough players join your game, it will automatically start. New users can join Frenzy (a quick big brother style game with randomly decided Head of Households and Power of Vetoes), and Arena (The Challenge style game with competitions and exciting eliminations). As you earn points through playing games, you will unlock other formats such as Hysteria (a more competitive Big Brother Style format with competitions deciding the HOH and POV), and Race (The Amazing Race inspired format where you're randomly paired with another player and compete in challenges for safety). Outcasted is our longer format which lasts around one week and offers an immersive Survivor style experience where players are placed into tribes, compete in challenges, and vote to eliminate each other.

Game Formats

What is Frenzy?
Frenzy is an 13 player fast-paced game inspired by the Big Brother US format. Once enough players join, each round begins with a randomly selected Head of Household nominating 2 players for eviction.

A randomly selected Power of Veto holder, who can be anyone except the Head of Household, can then either keep the nominees the same or save one nominee, forcing a replacement nominee to be chosen. If the Power of Veto holder is nominated, they will automatically save themselves.

All Heads of Household and Power of Veto holders are selected randomly, with no challenges taking place. The same player cannot be Head of Household twice in a row.

Once the final nominees are set, all non nominees vote to evict. The Head of Household also votes every round, but their vote only counts as a tiebreaker when needed.

At Final 4, there is no Power of Veto, and the sole safe player casts the deciding vote. At Final 3, the final Head of Household chooses who joins them in the Final 2.

The 7 jury members then rank the remaining players. The finalist who receives the most top rank votes wins. Jury members can complete their rankings at any point after being eliminated. Any unfinished jury rankings will result in that jury vote being randomized.
What is Arena?
Arena is an 11 player game mode based on The Challenge. Before the game starts, each player can vote for the format they want to play. Once enough players join, one player is randomly selected as the Decider, and the chosen format begins.

Standard Arena: Each round, players vote to nominate 2 players for elimination. Everyone then competes in the same challenge, with the nominees needing to outperform each other to survive. From Round 2 onward, the Power of Veto holder is safe and their votes count double. There is also a 10% chance of a purge round, where everyone except the Veto holder is at risk and the lowest scorer is eliminated.

Safety Chain: Each round, players compete for the Power of Veto. The Veto holder starts a safety chain by saving one player, who then saves another, continuing until one player is left unsafe. That player chooses a Call Out opponent, and the two compete in an elimination duel where the lower scorer is eliminated.

Weakest Link: Each round, all players compete in a challenge. The bottom 2 scores become nominees, and the lower scoring nominee is eliminated.

Golden Star: Each round, the bottom 3 challenge scores are nominated. The top scorer wins the Power of Veto and saves one nominee, leaving the remaining 2 nominees to face elimination, where the lower scorer is eliminated.

All formats continue until the Final 3, where the winner of the final challenge wins Arena.
What is Hysteria?
Hysteria is an 11 player Big Brother style game mode where players compete for power, nominate others for eviction, vote, and try to survive to the Final 2.

Once enough players join, the first round begins with a randomly selected Head of Household nominating 2 players for eviction. A randomly selected Power of Veto holder, who can be anyone except the Head of Household, can then either keep the nominees the same or save one nominee, forcing a replacement nominee to be chosen. If the Power of Veto holder is nominated, they will automatically save themselves.

Once the final nominees are set, all non nominees vote to evict. The Head of Household also votes every round, but their vote only counts as a tiebreaker when needed.

Each round, every player chooses whether to compete for Head of Household or Power of Veto on the next game day. The same player cannot be Head of Household twice in a row. Everyone begins with no score penalties, shown as 100% under each player. After the first round, winning either power applies a 5% penalty to that player’s future challenge scores, and these penalties can stack across multiple wins.

What is Race?
Race is a 20 player format inspired by The Amazing Race, where players compete in pairs, manage Money, use transportation, and try to avoid finishing last.

Once enough players join, everyone competes in a Qualifier competition, where the 2 lowest individual scores are eliminated. The remaining players are then randomly paired into teams of 2. Each round, both partners complete the challenge, and their scores are combined to determine the team’s placement.

Communication is encouraged, because each player independently chooses whether to walk and keep their base score, or spend Money on transportation to boost their individual score. Transportation options include bike, taxi, and train, which increase that player’s score by 15%, 30%, and 50% respectively, at the same cost in Money.

Each player starts with the same amount of Money. Money is gained randomly each round, and occasionally, a Money power up appears in the main chat, giving bonus Money for the following round to whoever clicks it first.

Starting with the first team round, players will periodically get the chance to select a Power Up. Each player chooses their own Power Up, and everyone’s choices are revealed publicly the next round. Power Up details can be found in game using the “?” icon. Only 3 Power Up options are shown at a time, but players can reroll their options by spending Money.

The team with the best combined score in the first team round wins an Immunity Ticket, which can be used by either player to give the team immunity from elimination for one round. Final 6 is the last round the Immunity Ticket can be used.

Some rounds are non elimination legs, where the last place team stays in the game but receives a 20% penalty the next round, though transportation bonuses still apply.

The game continues until only 2 teams remain. The team with the highest combined score in the final challenge, after transportation bonuses are applied, wins Race.
What is Outcasted?
Outcasted is a 16 player game mode inspired by Survivor, usually lasting around 8 days. Players are split into tribes, compete in challenges, manage survival resources, attend tribal council, and try to reach the Final 2.

Once enough players join, players are split into multiple games and tribes. Days are divided into 12 hour segments, and each day, every player competes in a challenge. During the tribe phase, each tribe’s average score is compared to determine which tribe is safe and which tribe attends tribal council. If a player does not compete, a score of 0 is included in their tribe’s average.

The tribe phase lasts until there are 8 to 13 players remaining. A tribe swap may happen before the merge. After the merge, players compete individually for immunity.

Each player has an individual food amount that slowly drains over time. Lower food results in a larger challenge penalty, either for the player’s tribe during the tribe phase or for the individual after the merge. To get more food, players must first collect water from the well in the top left corner of the map, then hunt for food along the bottom row. Hunting may fail, and the water cost to hunt is based on the game’s current temperature in Celsius.

Water can also be used to search other map spaces for an immunity idol. There is one immunity idol per tribe, including the merge tribe, and idols are not re hidden after being found. Final 5 is the last round an immunity idol can be used.

During the tribe phase, tribes share water and food supplies. After the merge, each player manages their own resources. Tribe phase actions, including failed hunts, are logged for the tribe to see, allowing players to track who is contributing.

At tribal council, the player with the most votes is eliminated. Ties are decided by whoever scored higher in the current challenge, before penalties are applied. If a player does not vote, they receive a self vote if they are not immune, or cast a random vote if they are immune.

Challenges and tribal councils continue until the Final 2. At Final 2, the 7 jury members rank the finalists, and the finalist with the most top rank votes wins. Jury members can complete their rankings at any point after being eliminated. Any unfinished jury rankings will result in that jury vote being randomized.
What is Royale?
Royale is a survival based game mode where raffled players are placed into a shrinking map, collect items, manage their stats, fight other players, and try to be the last player left standing.

When the previous Royale game ends, the next Royale begins. All raffled players are given a 30 minute countdown with the option to either join or flee the bloodbath. If a player is offline or does not choose, they will automatically flee and be sent to a random location when the game starts.

The bloodbath lasts for one hour. Players who choose to join are locked in the center of the map, known as The Eye. After the hour ends, they can leave The Eye or stay there. The Eye is always a danger zone, shown with a red outline on the map. In danger zones, items appear more often, but players are always open to being fought.

Other areas of the map can temporarily become danger zones, with a warning appearing before this happens. Areas can also close, with a warning shown before the square shrinks and is removed from the map. Any players still inside a closing area are pushed elsewhere when it closes.

Players must manage several stats. Food decreases over time, and Health begins to decrease once Food reaches 0. Reaching 0 Health eliminates the player. Players can see their own location as a bright blue square on the map, and can move to an adjacent square by spending 20 Stamina. Stamina naturally regenerates, with faster regeneration at higher Stamina levels.

Players only see other players in their current location, and only see messages sent after they arrive. Items can appear in a location and are collected by clicking them first. Most items help the player’s stats or harm others, but players must avoid “DO NOT CLICK” boxes, known as Gamemaker Traps, which greatly reduce Health. Some items can be given to other players, with Food and Poisonous Berries both appearing as Food to the recipient. Items spawn randomly and have different rarity levels, with full item details available in game through the “?” icon.

If a player stays in one location for an extended period without collecting or using items, they can enter camouflage mode. While camouflaged, they can still be affected by items, but they cannot be fought. Instead of a fight button, other players will see “ALIVE” under their avatar.

In fights, the attacker receives a 5% score bonus. The attacked player can run from the fight at the cost of 10 Health, and will automatically run if they do not respond. If both players fight, the winner gains 30 Health and the loser loses 30 Health. When a player is eliminated, the player who lands the finishing blow inherits all of their personal items.

The last player left standing wins Royale.
What is Celebrities?
Celebrities is a slower Big Brother style game mode featuring public voting, flexible season formats, and high stakes gameplay. It is designed to be the ultimate game on the site.

Once enough players or teams are raffled or selected, the exact format may vary from season to season. Specific rules are explained either before the raffle or once the game begins. A public vote to save is one of the most common features.

Depending on the season format, nomination ties may result in more than 2 players or teams being nominated for eviction. Game days may last up to 12 hours, or the season may be played live.

Each time a player faces a public vote, they receive a red skull. Each red skull gives that player a 2% penalty in future public votes. The player or team with the lowest percentage in each public vote is evicted.

Red skulls are removed for the final public vote at Final 3. The player or team with the most public votes at the end wins Celebrities.
