Royale Concept

Sin 4 months ago435 views

People of Kovaze, I've been seeing lots of Royale suggestions and wanted to speak on that. A lot of these suggestions are good in theory, but will often have an impact on another part of the game's design that we may be considering. For example, opening up a second game will slow down enrolment, and when enrolment is slower, premades become more of an issue. I'm calling on those of you who have played a lot and have a genuine idea for the direction that the game's format should go in. I've already heard ideas about having the game be 8 hours, or the map shrinking smaller, but I want these ideas expanded into full concepts. Please take into consideration not only the game itself, but enrolment, and also the longevity of the game. Comment your concepts below and I'll read through each one. Please do NOT post short requests asking me to change one part of the game, as those will be deleted.

sin I think the length of the game is fine. I think shortening it would ruin the vibes. Honestly most people who complain about being killed randomly on the second night sat the first two days doing absolutely nothing. When it comes to premades I don’t think the issues is too bad. I’ve been in several gams where there was definitely enough people to combat the premades but they were just dumb. I do think kills getting all the eliminated players items is slightly OP. This allows a small group of people to take out a ton of players quickly. Maybe make it so that you only get the other players items if they die in a direct fight with you (by losing the fight). This would also encourage people to do fights more often. I think stamina should recharge at the same rate regardless of the amount you have. Also a huge thing please show the entire cast on the page. I know people suggest checking incognito and stuff, but the truth is the average person isn’t gonna do that. This allows all players to scope out premades and alliances right from the start.

To comment on what other people are saying about fighting. There IS a way to incentivize fighting while keeping weapons useful. Examples: 1. You get stamina from winning a fight (20-30 stamina) 2. You get stamina from someone running from a fight (10 stamina) 3. You lose stamina from running from a fight (20 stamina) 4. You can potentially get items or something for winning a fight (3 arrows) 5. Or you lose a random item from running from a fight (Do not know how this would work out) 6. OR if someone runs you get there location for 5 minutes Its not about becoming fight only, its about the fact that you can ATTACK and someone runs and then runs from u and shoots u out because they realize they cant beat u in comps and they dont lose anything. Give people a reason to keep using weapons obviously, but give people a reason to FIGHT.

Dream4 months ago

Idk if this has been said already but the biggest issue imo is how broken fights are. In a danger zone if you attack someone and they don't play they get teleported to a random square, which defeats the danger aspect of it. Same with in the normal zones, clicking run/playing a comp should count as game actions and reset the camo timer. Most importantly though, if someone doesn't play a challenge it should count as a score of 0 and lose 30 health. Its ridiculous how many times i've attacked someone and they just dont play and can go into camo mode, if you don't want to play thats what the run option is for. The game would be much quicker if these bugs were fixed and fights actually had an impact on the game past the bloodbath.

Just want to post counter argument to people saying to incentivize fighting more because I believe this game was designs to give more than just comp beasts a chance in doing well (unlike what hunger was) having the concept of pop ups and all give those who might not be as good in comps a fighting chance to play. If anything from the last game, i noticed pop ups were not as frequent as you would think in danger zones beside the trap pop ups. After there’s like 15 people left in the game no one is clicking it. Definitely keep it in to avoid auto clicking but the rate could at least decrease. The last game i played we were all sitting around trying to collect supplies but there were 3-4 traps before a pop up for 1 arrow. Also i saw someone already mention but stamina takes forever to increase and you just get stuck in a spot forever. And have food decrease faster so those who are at 1+ days die quicker. Not fair that i spend a whole day looking for pop ups and get a shitty placing beside someone who didn’t even know they were enrolled.

Glaceon4 months ago

I just think you either need to nerf running away or buff food, it's ridiculously unfair you can commit to a game for 2 full days while someone has been completely offline for 2 days and they still outplace you consistently

LilGingy4 months ago

Are you against having a fast game mode with less players that could be called something different and then Royale is the big one? Maybe it can be called Training Zone?

xcharliex4 months ago

I think you should balance the game around food. Right now it takes forever to get to 0 food and its a useless mechanic honestly. I said before that I think food should go down a lot faster and the only way to replenish it would be being in the red zones where you can be attacked because another huge problem is this game does not incentive fighting at all or really doing anything but sitting alone and collecting popups. The map is another huge issue and while it should get smaller quicker I actually think it should start smaller and then grow then shrink again. Starting a game with this many players to then be placed in a square with 2 or 3 other people, only to use the limited times you can move around to find squares that are empty / have 1 person in them feels bad. Its emphasized how much of a social game royale is but its one thing to have to look at the cast list and message everyone vs getting to meet people in your squares and build trust and loyalty.

Incentivize fighting. The entire game is basically about who can look at there screen the longest and collect the most weapons. Also it shouldn’t just clear the entire game as soon as u die. 9/10 times you get jumped when you’re not online and have zero clue as to how u actually died

shrimp4 months ago

i think the most common issue i hear is that the stamina system is rough. the fact that once you dip under 60 stamina it takes 100 years to get back to 100 incentivizes you to just not move - if i move one space and see my worst enemy, then move another space to a zone where 9 people are camping, i either have to just sit and risk getting group bombed or move again and get stuck. i understand that irl the more tired you are = the longer it will take you to stop being tired but i just feel like we can modify it a bit

Lifeiscool4 months ago

shrimp this cud be fixed or a way to incentivize attacking by getting stamina from fighting idk

Bagel4 months ago

Really the only way to win royale is to spend 36 hours awake and this is just not healthy and might drift people away from the game. The only issue is the length of the game that needs to get shortened

isaac4 months ago

I like the 1 game, i just think 60+ players would fit the game format. The payouts are high for multiple royales and more players means longer games. But i love it sm regardless!

aries4 months ago

not the coke users wanting 8 hour royale???

TishaMod4 months ago

i just hate the fact you have to sit there refreshing ur screen to see if someone comes in your room, people wait for ur kovaze account to hit 5 mins online and you are AMBUSHED.

style4 months ago

Tisha agreed, maybe if ur in royale lowkey ur last seen should appear as "In Royale" that way the playing field is more even for those who cant afford to keep a device on at all times/constantly checking in.

I rhink one at a. time is fine esp if it speeds up some ! I think the map should shrink every 4 hours or so I think also making the game like 24-36 hours could be good

Fiji4 months ago

I cant thing of a specific thing but something to fix the issue of many of us dying just bc we need to sleep bc we are human

hauntedwaves4 months ago

i think shortening the game is a good idea. the #1 reason i havent played since the test royale is because i just havent felt like i had the time or the willingness to lose sleep. however id sooo jump in if it only lasted a day

RandyBandy4 months ago

a shortened game of 8 hours would be so tea

These are just more of quality-of-life things. Location Names on Grid: Either have the number coordinate (1,1) or the name on the map, not just when certain items are used, and you make location-based items a bit easier, unless that is the whole point of them. Poison Arrows: A type of arrow that still does its one damage but there is a chance that you could get poisoned too (don't want to make it OP). If you get poisoned, then you will either lose health or hunger at a faster rate, and the poison goes away after a certain time period, or you find a cure from a pop-up. If a player is already poisoned, then the arrow just does one damage to avoid potential stacking. I'm being a bit vague on the officialness of this because I don't know what would be the best combo to make it a nice balance. I think hunger first and then to health, but I could see health as a possibility too. This could be something that could be played around with to find that balance. Those who are poisoned can have an icon above them like when Outcasted used to have the snake icon above their head when they got bit by a snake, but instead replace it with a purple skull. Game Events: Just like in The Hunger Games, at certain points, events would occur. Currently, we just have the arena shrinks and the danger zones where you can't be in camo. Could we possibly add others? Maybe acid rain, where you lose health the longer you are in there, brightness where your accuracy is affected with weapons, resource where a certain spot has a crate full of helpful items (or a crate full of mines) and people mad dash to it (good spot to bomb others if you aren't fast enough). To make the game a bit more interactive, have us vote for an event to happen? I know people get antsy waiting for so having an input using Koinz would be a nice distractor. There could be more, but something high-risk/high-reward or that has players change their gameplay style for a duration (or the rest) of the game. That is all that I have. I hope I win the pizza party for my class and if you hate it I will cry so there is pressure. Thank you. Praise Kovozia! Oh and if someone is banned can they get autoboomed? I don't know if that will be a thing, but this isn't that movie where the bad people fight to the death. Just innocent people...well I think everyone is innocent.

NERF THE DO NOT CLICK TO -50 AND NERF ITS FREQUENCY PLZZZZZZZZZ. BUFF FOOD AND BUFF STAMINA. "COURAGE" a new stat where your stamina increases at a faster rate for 10 minutes after you get a kill.

Lifeiscool4 months ago

Amandasings04 sin YES. If you kill someone make ur stamina come back faster!! Give us SOME reason to attack cuz right now there is none

style4 months ago

imo the current game format is great and i think it's pretty interesting. the only glaring flaw rn is that food should drop justtt a little bit quicker; right now inactives die 32~ hours in from not eating and maybe that should be lowered. i think for those who make a deep run the game can be pretty stressful and i think there's valid concern on how the format promotes unhealthy habits but a lot of this is self inflicted and can be managed with proper energy expenditure, and the payoff IS worth it. outside of that though, i think some things that could make the game more interesting is maybe like "events" taking place in certain parts of the maps like if it's hailing maybe you lose like 0.1 health per minute, maybe if it's rlly sunny u lose extra hunger, probably not the best examples but u get the point, etc.

Christos4 months ago

I think its pretty great as it is. I wouldnt change too much about it, the time is not bad cause like hunger it is supposed to feel a bit longer and 8 hrs, if you are sleeping when it enrolls it'll just be over ? The map setup is great, I wouldnt change it. I would change running. If someone runs you should get the 10 health cause its so easy to run and then its a luck comp and you're *** I would change the do not clicks. It should be 50 health not straight up dying. Other than that i wouldnt change much! love it

PosterBoy4 months ago

I think a rare Telescope item would be good. Using it would let you know where someone is, but the name of the location only. Not coordinates. This would make it more important to remember what location is which, but also speed the game up so people don't just run out of stamina searching around. The person who was found should be notified. This should be the most rare item in the game.

Poof4 months ago

I think weapons in general are too OP. At the end of the day, you should have to fight by winning minigames; that's the entire purpose of having minigames on the website. The drops are also a little too OP in the sense that just hiding and staying put somewhere (with the exception of the Cornucopia, aka the Eye) shouldn't just grant you weapons. This is why I believe there should be a crafting feature from popups. I believe that you should be able to craft food, health packs, and weapons rather than just getting weapon drops from different places. This allows people to choose between actively hiding or searching for different things to craft food or weapons. This way, you get a healthy balance of actually fighting someone with minigames and using weapons on them for more damage, while also accommodating the side of someone actively hiding and trying to gain as many resources as possible—but at a cost (i.e., grinding out different crafting materials for one weapon). I believe this is the best way to make Royale more immersive for the players while also allowing anyone to really win.

30-40 people casts. Having 50 is wayyyy too much and the game drags (sometimes going on 3 days) - also I think with a cast of 40 would be perfect since most people aim for payouts so it gets them some incentive to kill 10 people fast to get to payouts and get the game going along. Food needs to drop faster (maybe like after 18 hours you die) - in that way even if you are asleep when Royale starts, you'll still have 10 hours to find some food. Ideally we aiming to have the game end in 36 hours or less, that would be the perfect amount of time for Royale (so people just missing out on one nights sleep for those that don't sleep during Royale lol). If you enrolled in the current game, you can not enroll in the next game - have to sit one Royale out at least as I've some people get in back to back Royale's. If you run from a fight, you lose 15-20 health, most people just run from the fights and then just lose 20 health points and go into camouflage and can't be attacked again, need to somehow speed that up. I agree with Luxray about areas closing every hour, makes limited space to hide and more at risk.

itsamodernlife4 months ago

As other people said. ACCELERATE the speed of hunger. It makes FOOD a more valuable item and buffs berries because people WILL get desperate.

itsamodernlife4 months ago

At the moment, it takes about 33 hours before someone who hasn't eaten starts starving, and another 2 or so hours before they die - that is a whole 35-36 hours (a day and a half) where someone who potentially hasn't come online since enrollment can survive. With the current player base, killing active players is being incentivized over the inactkves as they are the bigger threats to their games, allowing those who don't even log in to amass massive points. This won't happen every royale (my last royale surprisingly had 0) but for the ones that it will occur in, it's going to be a nuisance. My suggestion is to slash that time to 16-18 hours. People need to sleep, people need to work, and the 18 hours will give some leniency. Poison berries are honestly a lot more common of a spawn than food; potentially make food (and poison berries) a higher rarity as well. This will make food a lot more of a crucial aspect for Royale, and will indirectly buff poison berries as a form of murder as hunger is now a much more direct concern. At the moment, royale games last about 2 days, so if you get like 2-3 food items, you are set for the whole game.

Poppy4 months ago

I think it pretty perfect as is but food should be more crucial so people that are inactive don’t get good placements and drag game out

Luxray4 months ago

24ish people, much smaller map where it closes every hour. This could still be 1 game a day and raffle concept to avoid premades. If you had a huge amount of people wanting to enroll, could have 2 games enroll at once. The game could still have the same functionality as it currently does (maybe with just less Do Not Clicks for the love of god) and weapon damage could be slightly increased to meet the more rapid game play. Also consider removing food, or decrease it ALOT faster for a fast game mode - make sure those who arent on, die quicker as currently you benefit from being inactive as they are a lot less likely to be weaponed out (esp where there are threats not in your alliance).

Bagel4 months ago

Luxray I do agree with you. The current game format is too unhealthy for the player base

Ricardogv4 months ago

Luxray I agree

Luxray4 months ago

Luxray oh also if fast mode - should be limits to how long someone can be camo'd for (i.e. max 1 hour unattackable - maybe also longer period of time before someone can be camo'd too) -- maybe limit of how many times someone is unattackable too (i.e. max 2 times in a game)

Fire4 months ago

It'd be awesome if there were areas of the map that made health drop for the time you're in it similar to Fortnite or those other battle royale games

Jaded4 months ago

I like it how it is! One at a time. When there were multiple royales races/arenas werent filling Only thing not to me is have health drop faster i have been seeing too many inacts make it deep without even logging in one time

Implement the UnCamo. Name you can workshop i believe in you. This rare item would work like a kunai and would do 5 damage to a player. If it is used on a player who is camouflaged they will lose their camouflage and become eligible to be attacked. Very rare item.
