The Public Shop Dilemma
Kovaze
Hi Kovaze 👋
In a previous release, we reworked public shops to remove the competing aspect. We have been pleased with the outcome on all metrics except one: Shop owner satisfaction.
We can see that much less players place a bid on Public Shops than Gifting Shops, and we would like to balance this number out.
We’d like to hear from you: how can we make opening a public shop more appealing to everyone? Post your ideas in the comments!

Bring back the competing game and allow all shops to post for any price.

Gifting shops costing so much and us only getting 6 x 3 stock is crazy... not to mention non designers have to pay an additional 2-3k for design permission... just not rewarding at all. I feel like at the minimum there should be like 30 stock, and also there should be a way to get gifts from your own shop so gift number can go up.

Maybe shops shouldn't even be as a competition? Like it should be for fun to sell and designs to make everyone look cuter... No reason people need to be spending an arm and a leg to bid and open one. Maybe put a cap on the bids and then everyone who reaches it gets randomized on who opens one that week..

Shops should be a public page where anyone can open a shop for a fee of 500-1000 every DC they want open, with same stock and profit margin, this would reduce costs and improve profits as there will be more stuff to purchase. Top shops like idk 3-5 should be reward a coin prize for being for most earnings and the following DC they should get the fee to have a shop waivers and they become a feature shop for that DC at the top of the page. You should also bring in advertising so people can post what clothes they are making or selling. I think for artists it should be distinguishable between stores selling their own products or shops who have permission to sell others clothes so if people want to support the artists who are making the clothes that can be supported directly as there is no indication on the shop page if the owner actually made the clothes or not. Could be a simple as a some identifier saying artist store or something idk. I think that it’s a misconception that everyone will open a store for the sake of it as it paying a renew fee every DC will stop this. It’s anti-compete and opens up the stores will reducing prices and increasing profits with potential for like marketing/branding “in game” and rewarding shops doing well which some people will want to achieve

We should be able to buy our own designs. There should be something just for all users to do with avatars using the coinz they earn through games for a fun experience on the site outside of a shop "game".

Add a prize of a gift shop into the raffle that would be fun and random

honestly make it back into a game. theres 0 reason for people to not post for as high as they are since 10% back is hard to hit. you dont get anything for competing other than a POTENTIAL profit and even then it's really not that much. i bid 1900 each time i got my shop and maybe made back like 200 koinz in profit the entire time. it's just not worth it to me. if we got rewarded for moving on and the increase in profits i think it would make it a lot better.

I love designing but there’s honestly no real reason to open a competing shop right now. We don’t really gain anything from doing well, we don’t move up, and with the big HoF gone there’s not even recognition anymore. It kind of makes designing feel like it’s losing its value. I think longer shop rotations would help so designs actually get seen. And maybe some kind of bonus if your shop sells out first or sells out the most. A weekly “Best Design” or “Hottest Drop” vote where the winner gets some koinz would be fun too. Even something like a small design team that runs events or themed weeks could keep it interesting. Also gifting shops need more stock. 18 is wild for the cost it takes to even get one. It makes gifting feel stressful instead of fun. Just something to make all of this feel rewarding and worth the effort again

Agreed between shop bids and perm costs, it’s hard to make a profit.

Agreed with a lot of these comps, increase shop owner profit. I would increase it to like 30%. People wouldn’t sell their designs for as much

This isnt totally for the prompt of whats best for the owner, but it also doesnt hurt the owner; competing shops burn bright and fast and die pretty quickly. theres pretty much no reason *not* to post your entire stock in the first hour, which means we usually have a 50-ish hour period where the shops have nothing new every cycle! maybe a system where theres two waves of stock able to be posted could remedy this. the first day were allowed to post 15 stock, and the second day were allowed to post the rest? something like that? could make the shops feel more engaging for the public.

Cap design prices. Opening a new shop and having to pay 500t to use most designs is wild. Should be capped at like 250. Or raise profit to account for the fact that most profits go towards buying designs.

Increasing stock was nice but stock barely sells out since there is plenty of choices and the shopping is oversaturated

MarieEve you can, in auctions!

Increase profit and that will easily fix it, 10 percent is no longer palatable

We should also be able to sell our design we already own like a garage sale :)
