I think we're missing the point

honey 1 month ago180 views

Saying “she’s too pretty to be trans” is a microaggression. It implies trans women are supposed to be unattractive or masculine by default, and that mindset is rooted in transphobia. A lot of trans women grow up constantly being told we’ll always just look like men, never be feminine enough, never be accepted, etc. So comments like that are not harmless. And accountability matters. You do not have to be screaming slurs for something to be offensive. Sometimes it is the casual comments people refuse to examine that say the most.

i haven't really been online today so idk the context! but i think this is so well articulated and is such a great point. i think that even if we accidentally say something that we don't realize at the time is offensive, hearing others' perspectives and being willing to adjust your mindset and not defend your thought process is always #1 goal! Like I think for the most part ignorance is correctable (not even saying ignorant in a negative way because there are sooo many things i have been uneducated on in the past, specifically concerning my trans pals)
