Ramadan begins on Wed 18 Feb

This Ramadan, I’m stepping away from noise, distraction and the constant scroll and leaning into something slower, softer and more intentional. I am travelling to Indonesia today. There’s something about being in Indonesia that makes reflection feel natural. Maybe it’s the early morning stillness before Fajr, or the way the call to prayer, the Adhan echoes gently through the streets. Ramadan isn’t just about fasting from food and water during Sawm. It’s about discipline, honesty and returning to who you really are when the world isn’t watching. From sunrise to sunset, the fast becomes a mirror. It shows you your patience, your gratitude, your impulses. It teaches Sabr (patience) in the quietest, most confronting ways. As the sun sets, everything slows for Iftar (the sacred moment of breaking the fast). Dates are shared, water tastes sweeter than ever, and there’s a deep collective gratitude in the air. Later in the evening comes Tarawih, the extra prayers that stretch into the night, grounding the heart again and again. In between, there is Dhikr (remembrance of Allah) whispered quietly. There is reading of the Qur’an. There is Dua, personal supplication, asking for guidance, forgiveness and clarity. And there is Zakat, giving to those in need, a reminder that faith is not just inward. Being here during Ramadan feels like a reset. A stripping back. A remembering. It’s choosing intention over impulse. Truth over ego. Stillness over chaos. This month isn’t about perfection. It’s about returning to faith, to gratitude, to softness. And trusting that through every fast, every prayer, every quiet moment of reflection… Allah is good. Always. Alhamdulillah. 🌙
