Shops Game Rework

flameKovaze 7th of October 2025

Good morning, Kovaze! We're excited to share an upcoming rework to the format of the shops game. Our bottom line is that competition should drive prices ๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐˜„๐—ป, not up. Players should not have to grind for days just to obtain a single design. Likewise, Shop Owners shouldn't feel like they have to keep hiking up prices just to succeed in the Shops Game. We're hoping this change will make the Shops sector feel more rewarding for both shop owners, and their devoted customers! Shops moving on: ฬถ3ฬถ โ†’ 0 Bids open per round: ฬถ5ฬถ โ†’ 6 Total round stocks: ฬถ1ฬถ8ฬถ โ†’ 25 Minimum stocks per design: ฬถ3ฬถ โ†’ 5 We're removing the concept of the top 3 shops moving on due to the undesirable gameplay it promotes. It forces shop owners to post high, by punishing them for posting lower than their opponents. This style of gameplay is very unforgiving to new users who are less experienced with shops. We're hoping with this new change, owning a shop will feel more of an enjoyable experience, than a stressful one. We still want the Shops Game to remain rewarding for Shop Owners, so we will be increasing the total number of stocks per shop to 25 to allow Shop Owners to sell more, and gain profit. We're rolling this change out next round (meaning the top 3 shop owners from the current round will still be able to move on). We want to observe how these changes impact the economy and the shops game for a few weeks, so expect some numbers to be tweaked around in the near future. We're excited to hear your opinions regarding these changes! - The Kovaze Team

My only concern is about the bids . Many people will probably bid high to open a shop , which means that in order to make their money back, theyโ€™ll sell at higher prices so they can still have profit and some benefit from it.

Have you considered a two tiered shop system? You could have a public shop game and a private shop game, with different rules for both. The public shops could have a minimum posting price based on the economy (to avoid gifting for 1 coin), more stock and an incentive of competition. Then the private shops could be strictly for gifting, but you have limited stock (maybe 10-12?) and you donโ€™t move on from those. You bid on both. Obviously not perfect but maybe something to keep in mind! sin

Coke It wasn't touched on in this post, but the other concern was not having enough designs for sale (and having days where the shops are completely empty). We do want players to have the option to 1 coin gift, whilst still having a reasonable amount of stock available for the public. It's a puzzle for sure, but we're open to suggestions!

If that is the goal, I think this is a really smart change. I guess Iโ€™m just worried with this change there will actually be *less* public stock for users to buy if the cost of shops are going to be lowered as well. If they donโ€™t have to post as much to make their money back, the rest can be used on themselves and their friends (not necessarily a bad thing, just a thought). TBH, that would be a fair trade off for the current system since ultimately itโ€™ll make the economy (or, the amount each coin is worth) a bit better for all. :) sin

Coke It's hard to say whether shop owners will make a profit if they allocate some of their stocks to gifting. Ideally, posting all of your stock for the public at a fair price should allow you to earn slightly above breaking even, enough to make a rewarding profit for making good sales. It's hard to predict how the game will react to these changes, hence we're hoping to trial run it for a few rounds before revisiting it.

Interesting. What do you hope that the prices of designs goes down to then? Realistically I think this would only benefit the shop owners to post enough to make a profit, then the other half of their stock goes towards gifts for themselves and their friends.
