9/11 is weird for me
Being from Boston, my dads family from lower manhattan, and my uncle living in dc working near the pentagon- I have an incredibly close connection to so much that happened that day, but I was also very young. I remember I was home with my mom, no clue why, and we were in her bedroom just watching the tv as she called everyone in my family. My grandparents in New York have told me the story about how they were on the street when they heard the loud noise from the first plane and were calling all of our relatives in the city to make sure they were ok. My uncle had just driven past the pentagon going to work when a few minutes later the plane struck there. One of my mother’s childhood friend’s father was in the second plane that hit the towers. To be honest as a cynical old man now I’m a bit detached from the exact feelings of it all, but it will always be strange to me, off-putting or unnerving I guess, to think about
