Sometimes I avoid the blogs page on that day because it always bothered me on tengaged. I'm obviously not the most Patriotic person, but as someone who was in high school when it happened, I have very vivid memories of that day and how scary it was and the days after. So many innocent people lost their lives that day and so many have lasting health issues. I hate seeing jokes and it makes me.so uncomfortable.
I understand most of the people who joke about it either weren't born yet or were too young to remember, but I still hate it.
What spacelab said I’m 28 and have no memories of 9/11 so *everyone* younger than me did not experience it AND our world has become to desensitized to seeing violence that the brutal videos from 9/11 are not as impactful. Like we’ve watched videos of George Floyd, Renee Good, Alex Pretti get fucking killed by our own government. especially with the genocide I think American nationalism is not what it once was. so the emotional impact of 9/11 has faded for a lot of people. Not justifying it just explaining the disconnect
Unfortunately a lot of younger people who weren't around during the events think it's edgy and funny. Those of us who lived through it and have those images, sounds, and feelings etched into our brains forever have a very different perspective. I'm all for dark humor but joking about something like that is distasteful and I feel sorry that they can't take things seriously.
