the use of AI
on this website is actually so off-putting and concerning.. it's gotten so bad in the last few months. like i promise you don't need to generate 14 images of you and your friends virtual avatars on an island and spam them in every blog & game.
and don't get me started on the "games" that require you to compete with literal AI GENERATED avatars.. i also saw a game where you had to generate AI food and get judged on it. its all just slop
its all so weird idk maybe im too woke for this site 😭 it def cheapens the look of the site and i feel it would def deter new users from playing and sticking around

i do have to agree LOL a lot of it is very unnecessary
There are always be two sides of AI. Now I have always support and paying designers and do creativity the hard way. Making art or music or other things is people’s passion and Job (and a way of living) It is definitely sad that people are using AI to find a shortcut or even trying to monetize it for their use people putting actual hard workers out of business (but I will say their are some that half ass it. And even cheat people out) But there are people however who just use AI just to have fun or just be ridiculous don’t even monetize at all. Now I will admit I’m 50-50 on AI I believe if people are using AI, they shouldn’t fully use it a way to get money. For the site. Yeah it’s a new era of people using AI just for fun and just being silly. So it really should be taken that seriously, unless their’s some shady stuff going on. This site is meant to have fun and be creative and play some games and create some games to whoever enjoys it.
camell22 i do not 100% hate ai in all uses but like can't people be creative or have fun without ai? i've been on the internet for so long and before ai there was still so much creativity idk and idk i feel like people spamming ai-generated images of their friends and them on a beach is not creative 😭 like its just people typing in a prompt and using whatever the ai spits out
Space I respectfully see your viewpoints. I do prefer people living in the Present and being more creative. But there are other people that are creative but don’t have a platform to show it Or don’t have any type of expenses to provide because allot of things aren’t cheap anymore it’s pricey. So far where I see it (as far as I know ) people just using it on this site for the fun with it or just to goof with (I did not know there was a chef game using AI…….. so that is definitely something) For example the modeling game. The host is creating creative concepts and the people are just having fun with it. So stuff like that versus those other stuff. Have different levels. Remember photoshopping was a thing back then. And people were going wild!
So I kind of feel like it’s gonna hit that pattern again where it’s gonna become popular but then dies down
Good take honestly, I hope you’re wrong but the science does say it’s gonna fuck us. I do feel like Sin gets a pass in the sense that it’s a money making crutch (he’s a team of one, AI is cheaper than hiring designer) but I think it’s important to stray away from use when unnecessary
it's legit slop, makes me sad for the environment </3 even though I know like the giant corporations, billionaires and one trillionaire now, are most to blame, I still feel like we should all be trying to do our small part

I personally am not as perturbed by it if it's used in games and whatnot for anything that is completely no stakes. It does allow for some creativity in realms a lot of people wouldn't be able to express themselves, like the modeling games etc., that's not something you can really do without the use of gen AI. I think anything being monetized using gen AI over actual creatives is awful and will never support that, but if it is for something with no inherent value or stakes to take something away from people then I don't think it's a big deal. I also think putting ownership over individuals generating some images destroying the planet is heavily misplaced as pretty much every single major organization now uses gen AI on mass for their work which is what is straining natural resources like water.
SpaceLab i get where ur coming from, but i don't think the impact of AI starts only when money is involved. even non-serious use contributes to a larger system. i def dont think the responsibility falls 100% on big companies, yes a huge part tho. individual use def plays a role i am not 100% anti ai in all instances but seeing people generate all this weird stuff for 0 reason on this site is off putting to me
Space Unfortunately a lot of people are forced to use AI regardless. My company pretty much makes it impossible to NOT use AI at this point so am forced to use it on a daily basis. I think there's a balance between using it as a tool and not a replacement (which unfortunately a lot of people haven't mastered yet, they take what it spits out as gospel when there's STILL a lot of hallucinations or nonsensical crap in it's output).
SpaceLab def, a lot of companies use ai and make their employees use it too, but this blog was more so about the voluntary use where it isnt needed. like it just is bizarre to me. putting the effects of ai aside, just the images themselves are so ugly and they don't give off the vibe of "creative" or "having fun" to me. they look weird and robotic and sloppy

Cold i agree 😭 but this blog was mostly on the user/social side of the site. thankfully i don't see a ton of ai generated images on the site itself from sin's side but i hope that as the site grows he can get rid of the ai generated stuff
Cold I've been asking for designers who want to get paid to make logos, we even tried holding a competition for it in January. We never received a response. Freelancing websites are now full of AI artists too so it's been hard to trust those. My plan at the moment is to design them myself (since I am also a designer) and have my local AI polish them up - which is completely run offline via my own computer and does not impact the environment at all.
I heavily agree I think folks here are going overboard with the ai use
