Requesting the bans channel back again
sin
The lack of transparency on this is slightly harmful to the community.
Bans happen to do to breaking the Terms and Services of the website, some of being major safety risks.
We don't all have the time to keep up with drama and a million blogs with differing opinions.
What confuses me the most is that we DID have a bans communication which gave the most bare minimum possible, and even that got taken away.
I believe this needs to be added back as soon as possible, both for the safety of the users and so rules can be more clearly defined - I disagree with the take that "the banned user should know what they did".
It feels like Russia out here people getting locked away with no word.

That was the intended use of it until people started to harass moderators for their decision so I removed mods and removed the bans channel with it. My current philosphy is I'm self moderating the website and am also the person with the most to lose when it comes to the website, so there's never any incentive for me to be bias in my decision making. I would bring it back if I had faith the community wouldn't turn it toxic, but I don't atm.
Sin I fear the information needs to be shared regardless if people get upset over a decision made. My worries don't come from defending friends from unfair choices, it's more for my personal safety and decision making when it comes to those I chose to interact with. If there's no information about a users possible past history with problematic decisions, how can I set myself up with success
bim That is a fair reasoning - and it is something I have been considering. It just depends on if users will misuse it again or not (or finding a way to prevent that)
Sin You could potentially only post bans that are for harmful things. Cheating/Behavior bans aren't needed to be public unless they cross lines of bigotry/danger, IMO
bim sin maybe a medium ground would be the best approach ? Like no need for info if its like "caught cheating in a game" but if its perm worthy / a serious reason to ban them , then inform the community , I valued it mainly because if someone was found to be a previously banned predator sneaking back or something of this nature I could find out and cut contact with them
Sin What about keeping the mods themselves anonymous and then posting the bans yourself? Would stop the idiots here from harassing the mods while still having some transparency on the exact ban reason to prevent needless speculation.
yeah this is what I meant by my earlier blog, would clear up a lot of confusion
