Do you throw in Race if you don't like your teammate?

What is the point in joining Race to throw when you see who your teammate is? I played with someone the other day, my internet cut out in the middle of the game, and so we lost. I just got into a race game again, we get teamed together, and they throw because "Luna's going to quit mid-game and I'm going to spiral," when I couldn't control what happened to my internet previously and I apologized. I just don't understand the psyche of someone who could be so angry to throw over an honest mistake, or who cares enough about an online game in general to allow it to effect their personal emotions that much. Do you guys throw if you get a teammate you don't like, if so why? Why waste everyone's time, including your own?
