They will make it seem like it's for the animals but in reality paper straws and plastic cups are cheaper to buy in mass for the business. Also plastic cups are recyclable/reusable and straws are not. Also, when thrown away, a plastic straw may harm wildlife or can be littered whereas a paper straw will just disintegrate.
