DNTM4 - Flop-O-Meter [Week 9]

Lewis      ❤ 46    ▲5

Welcome back to another week of #DNTM4. This week Dimitra asked the models to deliver an effortless yet impactful fashion campaign... in a car! For some the engine stalled... As always opinions are my own. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 👢 The Biggest Flops (Scores 7 - 10) 👢 Antog - Flop Rating 7 I really wish you would stop matching the colour of your wardrobe and props directly to your hair, because it is starting to become an incredibly predictable, regular habit. At this point in the competition, it's leaning toward boring. The body positioning feels awkward and unrefined, and the styling itself is quite full instead of reading as high fashion. This entire concept desperately needed more refinement, because right now, the Eiffel Tower and the background are completely overshining the awkward model sitting in the car. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ⚖️ The Medium Flops (Scores 3 - 6.9) ⚖️ Marilise - Flop Rating 3.5 This is a beautiful, clean and simple photograph, and you definitely hit the core of the brief when it comes to delivering effortless style. I'm not entirely convinced that the wardrobe screams luxury fashion, but I do love the headpiece. I enjoy your facial expression here as well, it's refreshing change of pace from the simple face we see regularly. That said, you absolutely could have gone bolder with your body positioning and overall photo. Week after week, you deliver consistently good photos and I am truly rooting for you, but this image just misses that 'wow' factor required to stand out from a highly competitive crowd. Fancy - Flop Rating 3 This is undeniably a very clean shot. The lighting in this composition is beautiful, and it is does a good job of highling the best features of your face - the jawline is once again completely captivating. However, the face does a look a little bit too relaxed, and I think the shot would have benefited from a more intense, arresting expression. While the styling is good, it's difficult to see clearly in this frame and I wouldn't necessarily call it high fashion. I completely understand the upscale visual you were aiming for, and by no means is this a bottom tier photo for me, but it needed an extra spark. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 👑 The Safe Zone (Scores 0 - 2.9) 👑 LeQuishaQ - Flop Rating 2.5 I think you fit the spirit of this brief beautifully. You made excellent, full use of the car to build a compelling narrative. I'm a bit on the fence regarding the specific fashion choices here, but your facial expression is completely captivating and serving pure face card. The pose strikes that perfect cord/bold, yet still effortless image. My main critique is that the execution feels a little bit costumey and cinematic, like a movie still, when we really need to see is a high-fashion campaign. Marquis - Flop Rating 1.5 This image is effortlessly beautiful. Part of me wishes you had dug just a little bit deeper with your fashion, but the overall look fits with your background that it functions perfectly as a luxury campaign. The pose itself could be bolder, but once again you are serving face. I love that you opted for a completely different direction with your styling this week, it is an undeniable standout. GuiltyAsSin - Flop Rating 1 You took a massive risk this week, and I truly appreciate that artistic drive. Now, to be honest, I'm not a fan of how bare and exposed the feet are - it feels distracting to the image, and I think simply wearing your heels would have elevated the look. However, your facial expression is deeply captivating and strong, all while maintaining that coveted, effortless vibe. I do wish we could see a bit more of the actual garment to judge its high-fashion value, but the overall shot feels incredibly editorial. I love the inclusion of the random props, the pose is bold, and you absolutely pulled off the gamble. CupidStunt - Flop Rating 0.8 This is pure camp, in the best way possible. The styling is fantastic, and your facial expression is a total chef's kiss moment. I think the styling perfectly fits the pose, it is natural and effortless. Could it be slightly more bold though.. absolutely yes. I don't really have many notes beyond that. This is a thoroughly good, incredibly strong photo, and it is exactly the type of work I would expect to see gracing a high-fashion campaign billboard. This is a standout for me and it won't be forgotten. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Leaderboard Week 9 1. DNTM4 - Flop-O-Meter [Week 8]

Lewis      ❤ 32    ▲18

Welcome back to the Flop O Meter, this week on #DNTM4, Dimitra asked to see shapes, attitude and pure fashion. The divide between the models who understood the assingment and the models fell is massive. The Flop O Meter has calculated the scores.. As always all opinion are my own. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 👢 The Biggest Flops (Scores 7 - 10) 👢 GuiltyAsSin - Flop Rating 8 I'm really not obsessed with this. The hat looks completely detached rom the composition, almost like it's just floating unnaturally above your hair line. The outfit choice leans a bit tacky and looks quite cheap for a high fashion shoot. On top of that, the overall positioning feels incredibly awkward, especially the right leg. I wish we could seen the right boot because its absence completely breaks the logic of the photo. The boot on your left leg is beautifully long with the high heel, which begs the question... where are you hiding all that volume for the right leg on such a small plinth? It shatters the reality of the shoot. Im sorry, but for me, this is a boot. SpaceLab - Flop Rating 7 Unfortunately, this is another miss for me. The image has a noticeable blurriness to it that just throws me off from the get go, it ruins the high end clarity required for an editorial fashion campagin. I'm not sure what went wrong during generation but the execution doesn't work. The right hand looks quite awkward and I don't understand the purpose. I am underwhelmed by the styling, it feels like a concept we've seen before, whereas the brief explicitly demanded high fashion. I do enjoy the dramatic shadowing, as it adds moodiness to the shot. But apart from that saving grace, the image heavily lacks impact. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ⚖️ The Medium Flops (Scores 3 - 6.9) ⚖️ LeQuishaQ - Flop Rating 3 This is an undeniable high-fashion serve. To be completely host, I'm not entirely crazy about the hat choice, but I appreciate that it's something different. The pose itself reads unnatural and stiff but somehow within this specific avant garde context, the rigidity actually works in your favor. It's a good job, but not wow enough for me. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 👑 The Safe Zone (Scores 2.9 - 0)👑 Antog - Flop Rating 2.7 I love the positioning and composition of this shot, it is visually captivating and so good to look at. This doesn't bore me for a second. My critique is that the styling itself could have been elevated a little more to fit high fashion territory, and that hand raised in the air reads a bit too robotic. The minor AI glitches can be the sole reason you miss out on FCO, so it's worth perfecting the errors. Everything else works beautifully though and the face is a serve. I'm usually not a fan of the closed-eye look, but for this specific editorial concept, it works pefectly, well done! CupidStunt - Flop Rating 2.5 Visually, this is completely stunning. I love the outfit and the overall styling, you look phenomenal. Personally, I'm a bit on the fence about the facial expression, it's a bit dull for the ecentric outfit you have. My main critique lies in how the dress flows down to the plinth (this is me being nitpicky)!. The flat, clipped edge of your skirt doesn't make structual sense because the physical box underneath doesn't extend out of that far. Having the fabric realistically drape around the box would've fixed the broken ilusion. However, this is a really strong effort and you easily walked away with the best styling of the week. Well done Marilise - Flop Rating 2 This is great! I really love the distinct editorial direction you chose to explore for this shoot. Your face looks soft, yet it holds an incredible amount of power. The outfit itself is highly fashionable, and I love the sharp geometric shapes the composition creates against your silhoutte. I'll admit I struggle with your photos sometimes because your images are always technically good, but they occassionally miss that show stopping wow factor. I would love to see you start taking risks!!! Well done!! Marquis - Flop Rating 0.3 What another great week for you. This image oozes a distinct personality, which is an era where a lot of the other models unfortunately struggled this week. The styling is gorgeous, and the seen of the fabric interacts with the black and white filter. Your face is serving as always and this is precisely the caliber of work you would see.. The stance is strong, completely natural and free of any awkwardness and that hair styling is chef's kiss. Absolute love! Fancy - Flop Rating 0.2 Once again, I love this. The styling is a total wow moment, and your face card is an absolute serve. You have truly come such a long way in this competition and it is great to see. This image is exactly what I was hoping for when we talk about high fashion, editorial narrative and dynamic posing. I have absolutely zero notes for you... WELL DONE. ----------------------------------------------- Week 8 Leaderboard 1. Fancy 2. Marquis 3. Marilise 4. CupidStunt 5. Antog 6. LeQuisha 7. SpaceLab 8. GuiltyAsSin

DNTM4 - Flop-O-Meter [Week 7]

Lewis      ❤ 86    ▲5

This week, Dimitra challenged the models to strip back for a high-end, editorial beauty campaign. I have to say, this was an incredibly tough week to critique because everyone came to play. The stands was through the roof, and quite frankly, even the models sitting at the bottom of my rankings delivered work that would not normally deserve this.. Well done all! #DNTM4 As always, all opinions are my own. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 👢 The Biggest Flops (7 - 10) 👢 ⛔️ EMPTY - For a week with such a technically demanding brief, having the Biggest Flops category is great to see. You all survived the Flop O Meter! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ⚖️ The Medium Flops (3 - 6.9) ⚖️ SpaceLab - Flop Rating 3 Your skin looks great. I'm not a fan of one hand having painted nails and the other hand not having black painted nails - that doesn't make sense to me. I think you could've used more of the roses, the brief called to be floating around roses and I only see four roses, and one of them you are holding. The face is very good though. This reminds me of an aftershave/perfume billboard. Good efforts, but a few things could've been tweaked to stand out from this very good week. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🌟 THE SAFE ZONE (Flop Rating: 0 - 2.9) 🌟 Marilise - Flop Rating 1.9 This is a clean photo. I think I would've liked to have seen more texture to your skin; the brief called for luxury lighting and this is a bit of a simple use of lighting. You really could have played with the lighting to show just how perfect your skin is. The rose petals are placed wonderfully - I like how you put the closer petals to the camera out of focus so the viewers are not distracted. And I love the way you're half in the water with some of the hair wet. It's a beautiful photo, but much like a few of them, there isn't a standout moment for me. Antog - Flop Rating 1.8 I think this is a really good effort. I enjoy the water reflecting onto your face, that must've been hard to pull off with AI. I think it's a bit on the nose to have the blue hair matching the rose petals; it would've been great to play with colours a bit more to stand out. I'm not understanding the one white petal, but I see the editorial route you are going down. The face looks flawless with glossy lips, really good! Zee_ - Flop Rating 1.7 I think this is great, the glossy lips and subtle make up, alongside the luxurious lighting really work here. The use of petals is just enough without taking over the show. Your face is definetly the main focus, which is what the brief asked for. I love the wet skin and strands of wet hair. If I'm being honest, it doesn't entirely stand out to me with the rest of the photos but this is a good photo. CupidStunt - Flop Rating 1.6 This is gorgeous. The eyes are so piercing, and cleverly matched with the roses. It's the perfect amount of roses without being overbearing. The face card really is beautiful and you look stunning. I personally would've enjoyed to see more natural beauty from your model. I think this brief was about showing flawless skin and glossy lips whilst having luxurious lighting. I would have used these together: you didn't need heavy make up to show beautiful skin when you have lighting! I also would've loved to have seen your hair a bit more, as it blends a lot with the background. Well done though, really good. GuiltyAsSin - Flop Rating 1.2 I love this, well done. The lighting in this shot screams high end luxury, and the makeup application is beautiful. While I do think the brief ultimately calls for a more natural stripped-back approach to highlight clear skin and glossy lips, you still delivered a striking image. It just would have been great to see a little more of that effortless, bare-skinned vulnerability from your model. That being said, the wet hair texture looks fantastic, the hand placements are totally elegant, and you look beautiful well done! LeQuishaQ - Flop Rating 0.7 Chefs kiss. Once again you have delivered a fantastic photograph. Your skin is radiantly glowing, and your lips are glossy as can be. The hand placements feel incredibly natural and graceful, and I love tht your manicured nails perfectly match the tone of the rose petals. The composition does lean a bit on the crowded side with the overwhelming amount of flowers, but because your face card is so strong, you mange to remain the focus of the shot. The hair is gorgeously styled and the lighting is excellent. Marquis - Flop Rating 0.3 This is brilliant - easily some of your best work in this entire competition. I am so incredibly happy to see you improving week by week and applying the judges feedback. Instead of just scattering the petals in water and calling it a day, you woven them into your syling to tell a story. And we must discuss this face card, it is lethal and stunning. The lighting is masterfully executed, creating beautiful shadows that show your flawless skin and glossy lips. If I had one minor critique, I would have loved to see your shoulders submerged a bit more to complete the bath illusion. But honestly, really well done. Fancy - Flop Rating 0.2 Fancy, I really REALLY love this. Much like Marquis, you didn't just passively lie in the water, you took the roses and gave them a real narrative purpose by styling them into high fashion crown of thorns. Your skin look clear and those chiseled cheekbones are a dream under this lighting. I especially love how the water creates wet sheen on your hands, catching the light and adding texture to the overall image. There is truly nothing wrong with this photo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Week 7 Leaderboard 1. Fancy 2. Marquis 3. LeQuisha 4. GuiltyAsSin 5. DNTM4 - Flop-O-Meter [Week 6]

Lewis      ❤ 92    ▲9

Welcome back to the Flop-O-Meter. This week on #DNTM4 Dimitra asked the models to burn up the runway 🔥 Nobody completely crashed and burned, but there is nothing amazing this week that stood out to me. This was week was very boring to look at, especially when fire is supposed to be involved? Some captured it well though. As always, all opinions are my own. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 👢 The High Flops (7-10) 👢 GuiltyAsSin - Flop Rating 8.5 I like this is on paper, it's a clean, simple shot. However, I really wish you added a bit more danger to the composition. It looks too peaceful considering you are literally standing in an inferno, maybe that's supposed to show how much power you hold but I'm not seeing it. The stance is boring to me, like wake up girl, you're standing in fire. I like the styling but again it's too clean girl for this prompt. I needed grit not a nap. Zee_ - Flop Rating 8.2 This is cutesy, but the prompt explicity asked for powerful presence, and your pose is giving me pure whimsical. Your face is way too boring and dull here, I see the editorial route you were trying to take with the burned outfit vibe, but it lacks impact. Your jawline is impeccable but the energy is flat. Marilise - Flop Rating 7.2 A strong stance and I do like the story of you seperating the fire like you're completely unburnable. The dress being is fire is good. However, your face is way too soft for such a fierce theme. But the absolute dealbreaker for me is your hair. Unless I'm missing something, your hair weirdly continues much lower close to your chest at a completely different length. My eyes went straight to that AI glitch, and it completely broke the illusion for me, which is a shame because I've been a fan of your work so far. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ⚖️ The Mid Tier Flops (4-6.9) ⚖️ Fancy - Flop Rating 6 I am in love with the face card your model is serving here, it easily outshines everyone else and is the best face of the week. However, the styling just doesn't do it for me, I really don't enjoy the metal contraption of his arm or the bridal veil. There is just too much going on, with nothing going on at all, so it is confusing for the brain. It's also hard to see your trousers because the clothing completely blends into the floor. LeQuishaQ - Flop Rating 5.8 You went for a totally different approach with a blue flame. Personally, I would have much preferred a classic orange flame for this. I know it's good to think outside the box, but you are so stunning that you don't need to gimmicks to stand out. It looks a bit more like electricity than actual heat, especially with that bolt-like detail on your dress. The styling is ok. I'm not a massive fan of your fringe - it looks a bit like a fork. Thankfully, your face is incredibly strong and bought the exact passion we needed. CupidStunt - Flop Rating 5.8 The sheer power this photo holds is enjoyable to look at. Making direct eye contact was a brilliant choice, and your face is serving. The outfit is a little simple but it works. The stance is okay, but your left leg looks bizarre if you look at how the foot is positioned in retrospective to your thigh. The AI proportions a little off there, which halts an otherwise good image. Antog - Flop Rating 5.5 Your model is flawless, as always. Unfortunately, I just don't get flames from looking at this photo, which is a shame. LaQuis went blue, but you can kind of still tell it's fire, yous looks like literal lightning strike. I can't make you completely low because you simply look gorgeous, passionate, powerful and completely in control of the frame. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 👑 The Safe Zone (0 - 3.9) 👑 Marquis - Flop Rating 3.8 I really enjoy this. Your models face is incredibly strong and powerful, which is exactly what this high stakes shoot required. The styling is interesting but it's not a direct I would immediately think of, but it works beautifully in an editorial way. It looks a little bit villainous, maybe even a touch costumey, but in a week this dull, your power completely stands out. Well done. SpaceLab - Flop Rating 3.5 I love the styling here. The burnt edges of your outfit are a flawless execution and not-off putting at all, the storytelling is great. If I'm being super nitpicky I wish you had lost the flames on the book entirely or made them subtler. But your face is strong and powerful, and you actually used the flames a key element of the shot, which most of the other girls and boys completely failed to do. Well done. Tjamal9106 - Flop Rating 3 Finally, we have a proper model face from you! I am absolutely loving this. The outfit could be a bit more out there, but everything is focused entirely on your face, which shows power and authority. He looks a little too relaxed with his hands casually stuffed in his pocket, but the overall photo is projecting power. That is portrayed flawlessly through your styling and that gorgeous cape-like jacket. Really well done. ------------------------------------------------------ The Boring Week Leaderboard - Week 6 1. DNTM4 - Flop-O-Meter [Week 5]

Lewis      ❤ 18    ▲5

Welcome back to another week of Flop O Meter #DNTM4! This week Dimitra wanted sun-drenched rollerskate energy. While a few of you mastered the assingment and gave true magazine cover material, some of the others delivered photos that were a bit too moody, gloomy or just plain boring. As always, all opinions are my own. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 👢 The High Flops (Scores 7-10) 👢 Zee_ - Flop Rating 8 I'm really not a massive fan of this one. Your face is way too boring and full here.. she looks like she could lose her balance and fall over. There is nothing interesting going on, it's just a bit tedious to look at. Nothing is giving me that WOW factor or high fashion. Your body looks absolutely tea though. Otherwise, this is a total miss for me.... Plus where is the sun? it's barely sunny! GuiltyAsSin - Flop Rating 7.5 Unfortunately, I'm just not getting much from looking at this. The outfit is overwhelming and overpowering that it completely drowns out your model, making her face look very full. To make things worse, those AI people in the background are creepy and off-putting. I like the Santa Monica concept and the radio you're holding, but it's just way too much to look at with zero wow factor. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ⚖️ The Mid-Tier Flops (Scores 4-6.9) ⚖️ Fancy - Flop Rating 6.3 I think if you're going to bring multiple colours into your styling, you have to at least make them make sense. Right now, there is way too much going on with the styling and it's a bit of an eyesore. On the positive side, I do like the strong pose and the power this image holds. Unfortunately your setting isn't the sunniest, it looks like it's bed time. Otherwise, a decent effort overall. CupidStunt - Flop Rating 6 This is a very safe photo. We are getting to close to the end of the competition week by week, so you really need to level up and start giving us something completely different. This look is clean and very simple. The pose is good and the face is okay, but it just lacks that extra punch, making it a bit unmemorable. Also your models hair looks quite thin, it needed to be much thicker to match the drama of the shoot. Marquis - Flop Rating 4 I like this, and you had a very similar concept to Tjamal with the glasses, but I think you could have added a bit more power. I absolutely love the styling here, it matches your model much better than a suit. I adore the rollerskate/boot hybrid style, and that sunlight reflecting beautifully off your jawline is a dream! My final critique is that you didn't fully follow the brief, it was supposed to be sunny and this is giving moody. BUT, I like that you at least made the sunset theme have a purpose. Well done!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 👑 The Safe Zone (Scores 0 - 3.9) 👑 MissMiranda - Flop Rating 3 This is great, I love the pose and the photo tells a fantastic story with the splash coming from the cup. It is highly visually pleasing to look at. My only critique is the face needed to be stronger. Otherwise, a very good photo! Tjamal9106 - Flop Rating 2.5 Finally, we have a proper model face from you! I am absolutely loving this. The outfit could be a bit more out there, but everything is focused entirely on your face, which is exactly what matters. It's still borderline safe, but this is nowhere near the bottom for me this week. I love the way the shirt blows in the wind and that direct eye contact! Well done. SpaceLab - Flop Rating 2 Okay diva. I love this. It's a very similar concept to last week with the camera framing and the face, but I love how your legs are going the opposite direction of the scarf/tie - it's so visually pleasing. The mirroring of the trees while keeping you as the main focal point is a joy to look at. This is by far one of my absolute favourites out of all your work. You lost a few points from me because it's not entirely sunny, but otherwise, beautiful job LeQuishaQ - Flop Rating 1.9 I love how you always bring us something completely different each week. You bring a fresh energy and a totally new vibe every single time, and I really appreciate that. This really works for me, the pose and the stance on your tiptoes work so beautifully. It's another great week in the bag for you. Marilise - Flop Rating 1.5 I absolutely love this! It's a very similar concept to your last shoot with everything moving around you and a similar stance, but I am a massive fan regardless. The face is truly giving model. My only note is that your body looks quite small in proportion, though the angle of the photo definetly helps hide it. you are absolutely glowing and a force to be reckoned with! Antog - Flop Rating 1.2 I absolutely love the styling here. I'm not usually a fan of sunglasses in a shot like this, but it really works because I can still see your eyes. This is a brilliant shot that I could easily see in a high-fashion magazine. you have mastered the editorial side beautifully. Good job!!! --------------------------------------------------------------- Week 5 Leaderboard 1.Antog 2. Marilise 3. LeQuisha 4. SpaceLab 5. Tjamal 6. MissMiranda 7. Marquis 8. CupidStunt 9.
