To be clear as well. The only places to hunt for food is the bottom 2 rows with sand and/or water within them. All other squares aside from the well are for idol hunting (odds are crazy, you are better off hunting for food at these early stages while the temps are so high)
The penalty BEFORE merge is a tribe-wide penalty. So it take the average of all of your scores (add all your scores together, then divide by the amount of people who played). Then it applies the penalty to that number. So if your combined score was 7000 and penalty 10%, your final score would be 6300. So it does not matter when you play, as long as you do! But if there is still food banked that someone hasn't eaten a minute before day change, eating it MAY save you depending on the challenge. But it may screw you in the long run if you are already over 100 food and someone else is at like 70 food.
To answer you Oitas. We each tribe needs to hunt for food and try to keep their individual food above 100. Hunting takes as much water as the temperature is. So since the temperature is currently 34°C , it requires 34 water to hunt once. Which may elicit an undetermined amount of food or may gice you absolutely nothing and make you waste 34 water. It is most advantageous to save up water and mass hunt when the temp gets low.

I think we can take it easy on the hunting today, Korana. Until the temp goes down. The penalty won't do much for DOND anyways 🤷♂️
