DNTM4 - Flop-O-Meter [Week 6]

Lewis      ❤ 92    ▲9

Welcome back to the Flop-O-Meter. This week on #DNTM4 Dimitra asked the models to burn up the runway 🔥 Nobody completely crashed and burned, but there is nothing amazing this week that stood out to me. This was week was very boring to look at, especially when fire is supposed to be involved? Some captured it well though. As always, all opinions are my own. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 👢 The High Flops (7-10) 👢 GuiltyAsSin - Flop Rating 8.5 I like this is on paper, it's a clean, simple shot. However, I really wish you added a bit more danger to the composition. It looks too peaceful considering you are literally standing in an inferno, maybe that's supposed to show how much power you hold but I'm not seeing it. The stance is boring to me, like wake up girl, you're standing in fire. I like the styling but again it's too clean girl for this prompt. I needed grit not a nap. Zee_ - Flop Rating 8.2 This is cutesy, but the prompt explicity asked for powerful presence, and your pose is giving me pure whimsical. Your face is way too boring and dull here, I see the editorial route you were trying to take with the burned outfit vibe, but it lacks impact. Your jawline is impeccable but the energy is flat. Marilise - Flop Rating 7.2 A strong stance and I do like the story of you seperating the fire like you're completely unburnable. The dress being is fire is good. However, your face is way too soft for such a fierce theme. But the absolute dealbreaker for me is your hair. Unless I'm missing something, your hair weirdly continues much lower close to your chest at a completely different length. My eyes went straight to that AI glitch, and it completely broke the illusion for me, which is a shame because I've been a fan of your work so far. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ⚖️ The Mid Tier Flops (4-6.9) ⚖️ Fancy - Flop Rating 6 I am in love with the face card your model is serving here, it easily outshines everyone else and is the best face of the week. However, the styling just doesn't do it for me, I really don't enjoy the metal contraption of his arm or the bridal veil. There is just too much going on, with nothing going on at all, so it is confusing for the brain. It's also hard to see your trousers because the clothing completely blends into the floor. LeQuishaQ - Flop Rating 5.8 You went for a totally different approach with a blue flame. Personally, I would have much preferred a classic orange flame for this. I know it's good to think outside the box, but you are so stunning that you don't need to gimmicks to stand out. It looks a bit more like electricity than actual heat, especially with that bolt-like detail on your dress. The styling is ok. I'm not a massive fan of your fringe - it looks a bit like a fork. Thankfully, your face is incredibly strong and bought the exact passion we needed. CupidStunt - Flop Rating 5.8 The sheer power this photo holds is enjoyable to look at. Making direct eye contact was a brilliant choice, and your face is serving. The outfit is a little simple but it works. The stance is okay, but your left leg looks bizarre if you look at how the foot is positioned in retrospective to your thigh. The AI proportions a little off there, which halts an otherwise good image. Antog - Flop Rating 5.5 Your model is flawless, as always. Unfortunately, I just don't get flames from looking at this photo, which is a shame. LaQuis went blue, but you can kind of still tell it's fire, yous looks like literal lightning strike. I can't make you completely low because you simply look gorgeous, passionate, powerful and completely in control of the frame. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 👑 The Safe Zone (0 - 3.9) 👑 Marquis - Flop Rating 3.8 I really enjoy this. Your models face is incredibly strong and powerful, which is exactly what this high stakes shoot required. The styling is interesting but it's not a direct I would immediately think of, but it works beautifully in an editorial way. It looks a little bit villainous, maybe even a touch costumey, but in a week this dull, your power completely stands out. Well done. SpaceLab - Flop Rating 3.5 I love the styling here. The burnt edges of your outfit are a flawless execution and not-off putting at all, the storytelling is great. If I'm being super nitpicky I wish you had lost the flames on the book entirely or made them subtler. But your face is strong and powerful, and you actually used the flames a key element of the shot, which most of the other girls and boys completely failed to do. Well done. Tjamal9106 - Flop Rating 3 Finally, we have a proper model face from you! I am absolutely loving this. The outfit could be a bit more out there, but everything is focused entirely on your face, which shows power and authority. He looks a little too relaxed with his hands casually stuffed in his pocket, but the overall photo is projecting power. That is portrayed flawlessly through your styling and that gorgeous cape-like jacket. Really well done. ------------------------------------------------------ The Boring Week Leaderboard - Week 6 1. DNTM4 Photo Shoot 7

Goomybear      ❤ 55    ▲1

#DNTM4 I will start by saying this was one of my least favorite themes because I knew it would rely heavily on a very AI looking finish and I prefer photos that have more realistic nature to them. I was really hoping someone would use some subtle flames that still become the main element of the photo to hit the brief, but pull off a high fashion classier look with it. I knew that was a tall ask, but I don’t think anyone really hit the mark this week. tjamal9106 Pose: 6 Face: 6 Styling: 6 Composition: 6 This is a safe photo. I feel like we have seen this pose from you before and the same face. The photo is fine, but it is exactly what I expected the photos to look like when I saw the theme, but like not in a good way… I was hoping for something a bit more creative. No one really succeeded at this, but I was looking for he person who found a way to actually make this concept look high fashion. Total: 6.0 Zee_ Pose: 6 Face: 5 Styling: 6 Composition: 7 Could have done more with this pose. The face is actually nice but doesn’t match the energy or the powerful detail from the brief. The dress is interesting but doesn’t stand out in the image (maybe a different color would have helped that?). The overall photo composition is good the balance feels right. Total: 6.0 Marilise Pose: 7 Face: 6 Styling: 6 Composition: 6 The hand above the head is cute, but the finger turned the wrong way is the first thing my eye went to in the photo. I tried not to punish the score for that too much but for me it was noticeable. I think the burning dress concept was smart, but I think it could have been executed a bit better. I wish it was just burning from the bottom up maybe. I think like Katniss in Catching Fire and this was almost that, but not quiet. The face doesn’t really give powerful energy its pretty but sleepy. The hair needs help. Fire the hair stylist (hehe see what I did there?) Total: 6.25 Marquis Pose: 5 Face: 7 Styling: 5 Composition: 6 The pose to me is not giving high fashion. The arms are very stiff and you are losing a lot of your neck with the way your head I tilted. The face is the best part of the photo as you have very great bone structure and you are showing it off well. The outfit is the same as what you wore in the street shoot? I’d like to see something else from you. Total: 5.75 LeQuishaQ Pose: 6 Face: 8 Styling: 6 Composition: 7 The pose is a bit safe and I almost scored it a 5, but I appreciate the concept and creativity of adding the stairs for the movement so I gave it a 6. The face is stunning because you are giving a subtle smirk like you were the one who set the place on fire but still look like a model. The body of the dress looks great but the train and burning details were not executed that well. The overall photo was balanced and well executed, and it stands out from the bunch. Total: 6.75 GuiltyAsSin Pose: 5 Face: 6 Styling: 8 Composition: 8 The pose is off for me because although I appreciate simple more than the judges probably do, I think this wasn’t executed that well. You lose your legs in the dress, so give us some arms, oh no one is behind you and the other is stick straight at your side… I want more. The face is fine but the makeup could have been elevated here. The dress is great (just watch those revealing hip creases again). I love the composition that the flames are incorporated into the dress in a way that works for me. It doesn’t exactly scream realism, but I somehow still like it? Total: 6.75 SpaceLab Pose: 4 Face: 7 Styling: 5 Composition: 5 This photo confuses me. The pose is neither fashionable or flattering. You had a few strong poses lately that I thought were going in the right direction, but this is a step back. The face looks great, but since you are leaning back you lose your neck and it creates an odd angle to view the model from. The styling is boring and the textures ended up very AI processed. I also don’t really understand why you re burning books? Do you not support free speech? Maybe I am missing the point but I just think you have done better and can do better than this. Total: 5.25 CupidStunt Pose: 6 Face: 6 Styling: 6 Composition: 7 I like the concept of the pose, but it’s execution has some critical mistakes. For one, your arm hides your other leg and therefore makes your model look very short and cramped. The second thing is it hides the majority of the outfit so we can’t really see what is going on with the detailing, which looks like it could have been good, but it just looks like a body suit now… The face is ok, but looks a little like a possessed demon, which if that is what you were going for in the theme its good, but it’s a bit less model than I would like. I think the styling would be scored higher if I could see it. With all of that said, the photo does come together and looks good overall, but it could have been great with some of those small tweaks. I like that you included a lighter to make the flames at least make sense. Total: 6.25 Antog Pose: 7 Face: 6 Styling: 7 Composition: 7 I like the pose but the legs do look a bit uneven. The face is pretty but we aren’t smizing here. It is just lacking that extra connection with the camera to pop. The styling is fun but I would have liked to see longer gloves and a bit more fabric on the body of the dress, it is a bit too revealing for this look. The balance of the photo feels right but the burning dress again wasn’t executed that well, I think that must be very tricky with the AI to get it right. Total: 6.75 Fancy Pose: 5 Face: 8 Styling: 7 Composition: 6 This pose could have worked if the lighting was better to see your lower body definition. It might just be an upload issue, but on the photo I can see your legs sort of just vanish into the floor. Some subtle detailing with the fingers or tension in the hands could have added drama to this photo, right now everything just looks a bit too relaxed here. The face is stunning and the eyes work in this photo. I like the direction you went with the styling, but again its hard to see the outfit, but the head piece and accessories are great. Overall if the lighting was better this would help the photo a lot. Total: 6.5 Ranks Guilty/Quisha/Antog 6.75 IDK who I pick for top photo. Fancy: 6.5 Marilise: 6.25 Cupid: 6.25 Zee: 6.0 TJ: 6.0 Marquis: 5.75 Space: 5.25 Honestly since the theme was so uninspiring for me, I know I ranked these photos all lower than I’m sure the judges will, but this was just not a great week for anyone really. I am not at all confident that my rankings will match the judges so don’t be offended.
