I've been a bartender for 15 years. Bar backing is a good way to full time bartending. I don't know where you're located, but I make enough to support myself by bartending.
It’s well worth it! Can be some tough work, but it’s the perfect oppurtunity to take it further. You could be a bar back for some time, get some connections within the bar you work at, work up until you’re a bartender, get experience, and could maybe be a cocktail bartender at a high end bar/resturant! (Spelling?)
It’s a great starter job for the industry :) and you’ve skipped right over having to be a busser/server.
YasGaga yeh I was lucky to find somewhere where I didn't have to start as a server, so hopefully, as long as I show I'm a reliable worker, after the 5ish months they told me, I can become a bartender

Miami I'm at a pretty big college with 70+ bars and this is the biggest and most well known bar, so hopefully that translate into good money too
One day they’ll be short enough and they’ll train you behind the bar over time. Good luck!
