Alexa I'm pretty sure once you have a certain winstreak the whole level thing goes out the window. Once you get like 5 in a row I've matched up with silver / gold before
JTeeAlexa That's not how it works no. It's a MMR matchmaking system. The algorithm will always try to match you in an ELO it thinks you belong in, and when you consistently perform well, it will match you upwards to test if you're ready to rank up. If someone's on a 8 winstreak in Low Gold, their predicted rank is higher than their actual rank because they've consistently outperformed other gold players.
The only other reason would be quieter queue hours.
Either way it doesn't matter - if you have a 10% shot of winning a game then you get 90% more points from the win so it balances out, and the opponent risks losing a lot of points from a loss.

I know I only lose a point, but when you're desperately trying to get out of the lowest levels it's annoying to enter one you have no shot at winning.

Ok but like when someone puts up 6k in Maze and you're getting less than 2k it just hurts.
