Starting my morning

Trying to be a detective. This girl I worked with like 12 years ago came up on my Facebook. Her whole family and friends keep posting that they miss her and to come home. She’s apparently been gone 8 years now. There’s no indication from them that she’s dead it seems she like up and disappeared one day. Personally I’d assume that means she was like kidnapped or killed or sex trafficked or something but it seems off. I tried looking into it and I can’t find like an obituary or missing person report or anything like that. Wouldn’t if someone disappeared you report that to the police? So makes me maybe think she like let her family know she’s leaving or something? But it’s been 8 years now since her sudden disappearance and no one knows or has heard anything from her at all? I get it’s possible but like idk it all seems weird
