Facts that don’t add up

⚠️ TRIGGER WARNING: This post discusses the Lindsay Clancy case, including the deaths of children, alleged violence, suicide, mental illness, and details surrounding the case that may be disturbing or upsetting. Please use your discretion before reading. I’m not saying Lindsay is innocent. I’m not saying Patrick is guilty. I’m saying there are things about this case that raise questions for me and I don’t understand why people act like there aren’t. * Lindsay supposedly told Patrick what she had done and where the children were, but she had catastrophic injuries to her neck and throat. How was she able to communicate those things? * Lindsay supposedly attempted suicide in multiple ways..cutting herself, taking crushed medication and jumping from a second-story window. Why are people so quick to dismiss those actions when trying to understand the timeline? * Patrick reportedly left the house for a relatively short period of time. So much allegedly happened while he was gone. Does the timeline actually answer every question? * Patrick reportedly knew Lindsay had been struggling severely, including suicidal thoughts and disturbing intrusive thoughts. If he knew how bad things had gotten, why did he feel comfortable leaving her alone with the children? Did he not realize how serious it was? Did he believe she was safe? Or is there something we don’t know? * Lindsay had reportedly been hospitalized for her mental health shortly before the deaths. How did the people treating her determine that she was safe to return home? * Her medication history and changes were complicated and experts disagreed about what role they played. So why do people act like they know exactly what was happening to her mentally? * Her phone contained searches about postpartum psychosis, suicide and other mental-health issues. Does that automatically prove she was planning something, or could some of it have been someone desperately trying to understand what was happening to them? * There were conflicting interpretations of the timeline, her mental state, her injuries, the phone evidence and other physical evidence presented at trial. * And after hearing all of this evidence, the jury couldn’t reach a unanimous verdict. None of these things automatically prove Lindsay was innocent. None of them automatically prove Patrick was responsible. But they are questions. And questions are allowed. We weren’t there. We don’t know everything that happened inside that house. So instead of pretending we have every answer, maybe we should be willing to admit when something doesn’t make sense.
