In 2013

I auditioned for an acapella group on my college campus. This was a year after Pitch Perfect came out and Pitch Perfect 2 was on the horizon so people were going crazy. I was like 'oh, I can sing. let me do this'. I walked in there, belted out Saturday Night by one miss Natalia Kills before she got cancelled for telling someone they were copying her fucking nobody husband, and then walked out. I got called back and told I was in the next day. I was happy. But then it hit me. I would have to be in a performance based acapella group. Publically. As a gay little freshman on a college campus, I felt a sudden shame and fear that was overtaking me. I did what any reasonable 18 year old with fear would do. I never showed up. I ghosted them. I never saw half those people ever again on that campus and when I did, I did NOT make eye contact. The group was discontinued and never heard from again after the 2014 semesters. The 2 rallies they WERE at though? Painful. Thank you for forcing me to recollect this memory Ven it truly hit me like a that's so raven vision.
