For those that have trouble falling asleep, how do you describe it to someone? I try to explain it to Evan and he’s like “just turn your brain off” - I simply cannot do that. It’s like I have to occupy my brain with something like YouTube or music or noise to fall asleep.

My brain only “just turns off” when I take a boat load of drugs to force it to turn off. Have you tried sleep hypnosis, when my mind is really racing I find that is what works the best for me.

ive been sleeping fine like the passed like mybe 2 weeks but normally i could stare at a wall for 24 hours and my brain would try to go for another 24 more hours instead of sleeping

I had this issue for like 20 years and turns out I had raging amounts of adhd but I’m sure you’re normal maybe just lay off the screens one hour before bed?

Britt1 hour ago

Glaceon but they would mean no more late night puzzle arenas!

Glaceon yes

We're literally the same. I have to play videos in Youtube as background noise so that I can fall asleep.. (I play fun contents like Smosh and other stuff) If it's too silent it's like crowded stuff in my brain that is personally hard to control.. Drinking melatonin or chamomile tea might help a bit tho..

Britt1 hour ago

patrick I do love chamomile tea, maybe tomorrow I’ll actually use it at night and see

for me it's like i lie down and try and sleep and i just lie and try to sleep and wait until i lose consciousness or do whatever happens when you sleep but that just ends up not happening and so i'm just lying there awake like it's just like i try and flick a switch but the light doesn't turn on

"just turn your brain off" is the most impossible task ever like what how would i even begin to do that...............

gay1 hour ago

if i was capable of turning my brain off i would TRULY be unstoppable

Britt1 hour ago

gay EXACTLY I can’t even imagine how one does that

Half the time I cannot sleep, half the time I will lay down and immediately be in a deep coma. And there's no in-between. I'd describe it as my brain literally glitches and shuts down. But I also don't drink a lot of water at all and am constantly dehydrated so i think my body is just conserving energy

insomnia can actually be a form of mental illness that if very severe should be treated ive also however recently learned that you can improve your sleep quality if you consume certain foods containing melatonin about an hour or so before bed, such as kiwi or cherries as an example, and try to stay screen free for the last hour or so, find a ritual that calms you whether it's drinking a hot tea or just anything that would put you in a calmer mood also avoid naps close to your regular sleep time, and try to do things that would naturally exhaust you a little so you actually feel tired

Britt1 hour ago

SirVivor Kiki! Huh who knew The crazy thing is I don’t nap, I actually get sick to my stomach and anxious thinking about taking a nap

Sam1 hour ago

I’d tell them it takes time for my brain to turn off because I actually use it during the day
