I think what it is and who else is going matters. Are other significant others going or would you be one of the few? And is it something you’d be expected to do with them in the future or is this a one off event?
Depends on the event, but most of the time I go. But feel obligated? not really.
Not obligated per se, but I would go because their family is going to be your family if you intend to be together for life lol
