Having a hard time this morning
I'm feeling really disconnected from my work because of how unappreciated I am... worked my ass off at this company for the past year only to get a 1k promotion (which I understand people would trade with me with in a heartbeat) but knowing I did the work of someone worth 20k+ previously is really a slap in the face. i don't even like what i'm doing anymore, all my coworkers do fun shit while i just hang in the background. it just sucks. i'm so down
i have another job opportunity in line but the next interview isn't until next week, and just waiting till then feels so hard after waiting all this time

I think this is when you start to silently quit. Don’t give them the work ethic of someone who got 20k +. Give them the work ethic of someone who got 1k
I had something similar happen. I didn't realize how in the trenches I was until I got out, they didn't appreciate me enough to listen. I hope the opportunity next week goes well and you can find a change!!
Oh no! I was in a job for a while where they would say things like "the average promotion was 3%, you got 2.5% so you should feel good about that!" Over and over again. It wears on you. My suggestion is to take a day or two off if you can to reset and clear your brain. Decide if there is a oath to advocate for yourself where you are for more money or different work or another opportunity within the company. If none of that feels right, then devise a plan to do what you need to to survive there while looking for opportunities elsewhere. Reach out if you want to talk more!
If they knew how a lack of recognition discourages anyone from continuing to do a good job, things would be different. But one thing is certain, somewhere else will still value you.
