DNTM: BEYOND THE RUNWAY – EPISODE 1 #DNTM4 Guest: Goomybear (Season 3 – 5th Place) Hello everyone, and welcome to the very first episode of DNTM: Beyond The Runway! I'm Kali. You may remember me from Season 2, where I came heartbreakingly close to the win, and now I'm back as one of your judges. Every week, I'll be sitting down with a familiar face from the DNTM universe to talk all things fashion, competition, and, of course, the drama. Tonight, we're kicking things off with someone who made a huge impact on Season 3. They delivered memorable photos, survived some tough eliminations, and fought their way all the way to fifth place. Please welcome... GOOMY! Let's start...Looking back at Season 3, what do you think was the biggest turning point in your journey that helped you reach the Top 5 Goomy: Honestly, when the house ranked me as the weakest model, I knew I wanted to prove them all wrong. Spite is a great motivator, and I knew I had to step it up and deliver photos the judges couldn’t possibly rank low. When you look back at my portfolio, I think you can see a clear elevation in my photos after that moment. Alrighty! If you could go back and redo one challenge or photoshoot from your season, which one would it be and what would you do differently? Goomy: That is tough because I was proud of all of my photos especially as I submitted them. I guess the final week I got eliminated I knew I didn’t spend enough time finishing it because I was traveling, so maybe that photo. Otherwise, I guess if I made my veil photo more obvious with the fabric that would be the other one because I still think that I had the best concept that week but just needed to have more obvious fabric in order for the judges to rank it high You've been watching Season 4 from the outside. Which contestant has surprised you the most after the first runway, and why? Goomy: I didn’t have any expectations really so I wasn’t surprised by anyone really. You have a couple of returning players to keep an eye on so that’s fun (Antog Melanie), and then a judge stepping down to play will be really interesting to see as well. You also still have some male models mixed in, so I am happy about that too! I’m excited to watch how all of those elements play out. Do you see any contestant this season who reminds you of yourself during your time in the competition? Goomy: It is still a bit early to tell for that one, but I think stylistically I see GuiltyasSin as being similar since if I had done this shoot this week I would have tried to do something similar. I think my style was always slightly more understated than most. I always tried to deliver in the details and the high fashion/editorial elements of the photos. Lastly.... Be honest, Goomy: was there anyone in Season 3 that you thought made it much further than they should have? Goomy: Haha this is a shady question. First I will say that I know everyone worked very hard to make it as far as they did and I respect all of the competitors, so my choices here have nothing to do with that. But I won’t cop out and refuse to answer, haha. I would have to say that Lewis surprised me by making it as far as he did, mainly because I thought his style stayed a bit one dimensional throughout the season. He had good photos, but they all started to look the same from week to week so I was always hoping for something new from him and never got it, but that makes me excited to see him on an All Stars season since that will give him an opportunity to show some versatility! My other choice would be Seong, because of similar reasons actually. Most of the photos were the same pose, and almost always shot from below. I think overall the styling was also never super high fashion. Obviously, he is still a very strong model, but it kept surprising me how high the scores would be for the same photo over and over.
