Girls and gays! #DNTM3

Okayyyy finally a week where almost everyone understood the assignment. This is the first week in a while where the ranking actually hurt because there were multiple photos I genuinely loved and only a few that completely lost me. The level is getting higher and now tiny details matter way more. Tisha - You have one of the prettiest faces in this competition and this photo proves it again. The skin looks unreal and the soft glam makeup was definitely the right choice for you. I just wish the expression pushed a little further emotionally because everything around it is gorgeous but your eyes feel a bit disconnected from the story. Still one of the strongest this week. Bosslady - I actually appreciate this one. The issue is that the photo feels too safe. The veil and lighting are doing all the work while the face itself isn’t giving enough intensity for a close-up challenge. Seong - This is dramatic in the best way possible. The styling feels intentional, the red tones are beautiful and I love how haunting the whole image feels. My only issue is that it almost feels more like a beauty campaign than an emotional portrait, I’m missing a little rawness from you. Poof - I think this photo is pretty but forgettable. The colors work nicely together and your eyes photograph beautifully as always, but after looking at the lineup a few times I kept forgetting this one existed. Nothing is bad, there’s just not enough risk here. Honey - You managed to make a very delicate photo without it becoming boring which is hard to do. I do think the hair covering part of the face weakens the impact because your strongest feature is your eye area and we lose some of that here. Torimarie - This feels very modelesque to me. The angle, the lips slightly parted, the way the fabric frames the face… it feels natural and expensive. I’m not obsessed with the hair styling though, it’s giving post-nap a little bit hahaha. Muribolt - I fear this is one of the weakest concepts this week. The freckles are cute and the face is beautiful but the photo itself feels unfinished. The fabric placement looks accidental instead of intentional and the makeup needed way more drama for this theme. Sam - There’s something very cinematic about this photo and I appreciate that because many people went very beauty-focused instead. The dark atmosphere works but I think you pushed it too far because the eyes disappear into the shadows and for a close-up challenge that’s a dangerous move. dailyicon - You definitely committed to the emotion and I appreciate that because some people looked scared to look “ugly” this week. The tear/saliva detail is uncomfortable in a good way. I just think the composition is a bit messy and my eye doesn’t know where to focus first. Camell22 - The lighting is STUNNING and probably some of the best lighting this week but the editing takes me out of it a little. The eyes are too sharpened and the veil doesn’t feel physically present in the image. It starts entering uncanny valley territory for me. Goomybear - This feels very fashion horror and I kind of live for that. The wet effect mixed with the makeup makes the image feel cold and dramatic. I just wish the fabric interacted more with the body because right now it feels added in as an afterthought. I would leak this one too, it's definetly a strong pic Thiii - Oh this is eleganttttt. You understood that close-up doesn’t always mean doing the absolute most and the restraint here works in your favor. The gold tones with the skin are beautiful and this photo looks very luxury beauty campaign coded. RobbieRiot - The greens together are insanely pretty and this might honestly be the best color story of the week for me. I love the softness of the profile angle too. I know some people will complain about the lack of direct eye contact but I actually think it works here. Lewis - I appreciate that you tried to go intense but the final result feels too chaotic. The dark eye makeup mixed with the angle makes the face lose structure and close-up photos are brutal when the angles aren’t right. It needed more control overall. Overall this was a really solid week and for the first time I can actually picture multiple people winning this competition. The weak photos are starting to stand out way more now because the good ones are GOOD. Week 6 is where I start expecting people to fully know their brand though, no more playing safe. Ranking for this week: 1. Thiii 2. Seong 3. Tisha 4. RobbieRIOT 5. Honey 6. Goomybear 7. ToriMarie 8. Sam 9. Poof 10. Dailyicon 11. Bosslady 12. Camell22 13. Muribolt 14. Lewis

Thank you! The lighting isn’t uploading properly through discord so I understand your critiques. Just know I submitted a much brighter photo with more dynamic lighting!
