why did you choose this persona over extraterrestrial here?

Maybe a little controversial? I’m saying this as a full outsider just by my observations but I feel like I see this happen a lot. Also coming at this as a 30 year old adult and I understand there are younger less mature people on here and many of the people on this site are wayyyy more attached to it and their “online life” than I am, but here it goes. I feel like I see people almost every day posting and talking about their loved ones who are in the hospital, or died, or had some tragic thing happen to them and I just think maybe this isn’t the forum for that? Obviously everyone has things that happen to them but it feels like rather than just deal with their life or approach it in a reasonable manner, I will see so many wait until they are called out or approached in a game setting and use it as like a “gotcha”. Now I understand it can be tough and emotional to have traumatic and difficult things happening to you and those around you, but the sheer amount of people I see using that as a way to one up others is truly astounding. I really think there’s a disconnect many people here have between real life and this website. As someone who also grew up online and have many friends I’ve met that way, there has to be a distinction you make of what matters and what doesn’t and quite frankly a game you join on this site doesn’t matter. I get again that it can be hard to deal with your life and many use things like this site as an escape but when you start to allow the things happening to you to become a way for you to treat others poorly or as an “excuse” it becomes too much. If you have things truly going on in your life that are hurting you then step away. This site does not matter. Focus on what’s important and if this site gives you some time away then so be it but don’t then take your anger and sadness and direct it to others just because they didn’t know what you’re going through and quite frankly probably don’t care since you’re a random person they don’t know on a website. I feel like what I wrote here is a little clunky but I think my sentiment comes across. If you need to focus on your life then focus on it, don’t act as though this website or anything online actually demands your attention because it doesn’t.
