So, there’s this guy I started seeing in January. We had an agreement not to have anything serious until after Carnival (I’m Brazilian). Well, Carnival ended, and he started distancing himself. I asked him to talk so we could figure out if we were staying casual or moving toward something more serious. He kind of avoided the conversation and started ghosting me. We used to talk frequently, and even as Carnival approached, he didn't change the way he treated me, but he stopped replying as often as he used to. He had a boyfriend and lived with his ex until December, so I understand he’s still in a 'mourning' period, but he did some things I found annoying—things I would never do to him. We were together for about two months, you know? Anyway... he reached out again and started messaging me after a few weeks apart. Initially, he asked how I was doing after my surgery, and today he asked me out. When I said I couldn't because I'm still recovering, he said he was staying in too and asked if I wanted to do something. I declined the invite by changing the subject. What I want to know from your perspective is: Should I go out with him again to find out what he actually wants—even though he did things that made me lose interest and make me feel bad just thinking about them (which I try to overlook since we're both single)? Or should I talk to him and say I'm no longer interested in a romance, but I'm totally open to being friends, since he’s a cool person who always treated me with affection and we've even exchanged gifts?
