A scorpion who asks a frog to carry it across a river. The frog is initially hesitant, fearing the scorpion will sting it, but the scorpion uses logic, arguing that if it did, they would both drown. The frog agrees, but midway across the river, the scorpion stings the frog anyway, dooming them both. When the dying frog asks why?, the scorpion replies, "I am sorry, but I couldn't help myself. "It's in my nature."
